I had a hard time deciding on how to rate my experience with this book. I can tell you I was totally exhausted at the end. There is certainly no lack of action. However he did it, Mr Scott was able to pull me into this whirlwind of devastation, and I remembered the last book I read where there was "nothing," thus he got the 4.Product details

Fate Reprisal The Corporate Alliance Book One eBook CW Scott R A Peters Reviews
Full Disclosure I received a reviewer's copy of this book.
I was slightly unhappy with the lack of background info on the protagonist at the beginning of the story, but it rolled very along well and quickly snagged me. In places, descriptions were quite detailed, in others, not so much, but it was written in a way that made me feel as if I were there... things I think I would've noticed if I'd experienced it were mentioned, while the non-essential details were glossed over during the firefight scenes (I prefer that).
There were a few places it was less than believable (multiple times the hero was beaten, told he'd need to rest, but continued to run & fight for hours because of the nano-stim shots he injected), but overall it was quite credible. The majority of the book appears to have been written by an author with military experience too, so the military interaction was not implausible (as many sci-fi fiction works are).
Would definitely recommend this to others as well as enjoy reading sequels!
Enjoyed this, interesting with action throughout. Author skillfully put several sub-plots in , weaving them seamlessly throughout story making the book much more interesting, riddled with good mystery that you care about and want to find out about.
Not a lot of tech nor long winded explanations of science and reasoning behind weapons, equipment, etc. That's a big plus for me. Credible weapons n equipment so that you're trying to understand how, why it works and why anybody needs it to begin with.
And another plus is you don't need a note pad keeping track of who's who, places and all the other stuff you get bombarded with making your head hurt. Author did good job w that as he introduced characters.
Story is a mix of character and action driving the storyline. My only qualm would be how perfect the MC is, driving the action, always doing the right thing, lucky unbeatable. I've never met too many folk that would do what he did. Regardless, enjoyed the read.
I received a free copy of this book for an honest and impartial review from Library Thing Fates Reprisal is a fairly well written book. The premise is based on a soldier stationed on a foreign planet (no development of that in the book), that has been/gets attacked by aliens. Sounds a little familiar especially when the soldier ends up being a busted down special ops. No real detail in all of that which really could have been a beginning of a book. There was a good bit of action and dialogue throughout. I do not think that the story line was anything new but C.W. did a good job keeping me entertained. Award winner...probably not, but still a good read over a weekend. I do hope that the story develops further in the next book, but unfortunately I will not be putting in a pre-order for it. I would have opted for 3.5 stars, but what the heck, 4 it is. Work on the story line and character development and you could have a really good series C.W.
This is a good fast-paced story. From the beginning, I encountered, but decided to ignore, assorted lapses of punctuation, especially involving the lack of the proper use of " 's." This is after all the Millenial Age, so I have learned to make some allowances. Finally though, at page 109 of 216 (iPad pagination), Mr. Scott's lapses in basic grammar and punctuation have finally gotten to me. He has talent. Now he needs a competent editor. Otherwise he just ends up looking careless or foolish. Unless perhaps no one cares anymore.
Exciting first Science fiction. In the midst of so much violence I liked the way the author dealt with the humanness of the main characters. Looking forward to the next book
CWS has written a story of a Special Operations Marine who has been busted in rank, confined to quarters, sent to a planet at war. His primary problem is the results of a mind sweep, but he begins to remember who, what, when and where and that he is a combat Marine. This is an excellent read for the genre.....ER
Well written, well edited, well ebooked. Lots of action. Great read but somewhat stressful -- lots of bang bang and alien gore. (Maybe I'm getting too old.)
